● Guwahati, 17th May: The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Assam Don Bosco University School of Technology organized an alumni talk on 16th May for the students. The welcome speech of the event was given by Dr. Buljit Buragohain, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Chairman, Career Guidance Cell, Assam Don Bosco University School of Technology. Bishnu Prakash Medhi and Sidartha Bora, the 2nd Batch of B. Tech Alumni of the Department of Mechanical Engineering addressed the event.
Mr. Bishnu Prakash Medhi shared his journey with the students. Mr. Medhi as a project lead in Assam Don Bosco University Consultancy at the SFURTI scheme, he was involved in drafting and implementing six major project clusters. These clusters focus on industries like tea, handloom, handicraft and food processing; with the aim of uplifting communities. Additionally, he recently began delving into motorcycle engineering research, specifically looking at ways to improve rider comfort through better design. He said that when we are passionate about what we do, we can overcome any challenges that come our way.
Another, alumni of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Assam Don Bosco University, Mr. Sidartha Bora said that he began his career as a robotic trainer in Kolkata, where he developed a keen interest in 3D Printing. He has a background in CAD Designing, under certified course from MSME during his undergraduate studies. Recently, he had the privilege of collaborating on a project with Tezpur Medical College.
Together, they successfully implemented a 3D printed scaffold for regenerative bone growth, and informed in the talk that the operation was a success. Building on this achievement, he is now pursuing his PhD, focusing on further research in tissue-engineering bone scaffolds, specifically for upper limb bones. The event ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Buljit Buragohain.
