Protest demanding closure of Garukhuti eviction
Tezpur,Sept 24 : Assam Pradesh Congress Committee on Friday to protest government brutality on innocent people in Dhalpur in Sipajhar and to stop the barbaric eviction drive till judicial inquiry and rehabilitation is done.
The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee implemented the dharna programme before the Darang Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
More than 300 Congress workers led by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhupen Bora stormed the deputy commissioner’s office.
The Congress committee handed over a memorandum to the deputy commissioner seeking a proper inquiry.
A team from the State Congress then reached the high rise campaign site in Garukhoti.
The Congress party has arrived and interacted with the people of the area.
Today’s event is attended by a large number of MLAs and party workers including State Congress President Bhupen Bora MP Abdul Khalek, Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora.
